A short classroom plan
- Start with Foundation. Model CAT as /k/ /a/ /t/, then blend the sounds while pointing to the letters. Say the sounds without adding an extra “uh.”
- Let partners rehearse the next picture word before one learner chooses letters on the shared screen. Ask which sound belongs in the middle.
- Read the completed word and use it in a sentence. Try Word families when the class is ready; Blends adds four-letter words such as FROG and CRAB, which are not CVC words.
Keep participation comfortable. The picture is a vocabulary clue, not a substitute for blending. Preview unfamiliar picture names, accept a spoken or pointed response, and keep the activity untimed.
